In this expansive story about the winding Gauja river and the most characteristic species of trees found there, the artist has not become dryly practical for a moment or pettily garrulous. The landscapist has also refrained from focussing attention to concrete objects in the fore or middle ground, choosing instead to draw the viewer’s gaze deeper into the painting, over the frail stream of smoke, which is the only evidence of human presence. The purposeful selection of the artistic elements serves to convey the painting’s emotional content creating the notion of a harmonious environment, of nature friendly and commensurate with man, and revealing the genuine and deep, while at the same time controlled experience of the artist.

Structured details of the artwork

Artwork name:

"The Gauja Valley"

Artwork categorization:

painting

Original medium of artwork:

oil on canvas

Original dimensions (artwork):

101 x 173 cm

Museum:

Latvian National Museum of Art

Place of museum:

Riga, Latvia

Available at:

www.lnmm.lv

License type:

public domain

Courtesy of:

Latvijas Nacionālais mākslas muzejs, Latvian National Museum of Art

About the artist

Artist:

Jūlijs Feders

Professions of the artist:

painter

Select your item material option

We offer a range of various materials and sizes for every product. For our Direct Aluminium Dibond print, we print the chosen work of art on the aluminium composite surface. The white and bright parts of the artwork shimmer with a silky gloss, however without glare.

The canvas print: A canvas print is a printed canvas stretched on a wooden frame. A canvas print produces a cosy, appealing feeling. A canvas print has the great advantage of being low in weight, which implies that it is easy and straightforward to hang up the Canvas print without the use of additional wall-mounts. Therefore, a canvas print is suitable for all kinds of walls in your home.

Glossy acrylic glass print: An acrylic glass print, which is often described as a fine art print on plexiglass, will turn the original work of art into wonderful décor and forms a great alternative to canvas and dibond art prints. Your artwork will be printed with the help of state-of-the-art UV direct printing machines. The great upside of a plexiglass fine art copy is that contrasts as well as minor color details become more exposed thanks to the delicate tonal gradation of the picture.

Printed poster (canvas material): The poster is a printed canvas with a slightly roughened finish on the surface.
