Schanne Alexander (1823-1887), was a relative of the Water Drinkers group, association of young, aspiring writers and artists, founded in 1841. He is represented here by manufacturing toys in the shop bequeathed him his père.Henri Murger Schanne was inspired to create his character "Schaunard," half musician, half-painter, in his novel "bohemian lavie Scenes" (1851). Schanne Alexander wrote a memoir, "Memories of Schaunard," published in 1887.
