Sarto was known as "the painter without defects." His figures are masterfully drawn, beautifully colored, and composed with an air of nobility. Giovanni Borgherini commissioned this grand Holy Family during the short-lived rule of Florence as a Republic before the Medici family was reinstated violently and permanently as its rulers. Sarto expressed the political meaning through the imagery of Christ holding the orb, suggesting his exclusive kingship—a known symbol of the Republic.

The artwork with the title The Holy Family with the Young Saint John the Baptist was made by the high renaissance master Andrea del Sarto in the year 1528. The over 490 year-old original was painted with the size: 53 1/2 x 39 5/8 in (135,9 x 100,6 cm). Oil on wood was applied by the European artist as the technique for the masterpiece.
