Design for the unexecuted ceiling painting in the stairwell of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. "Apotheosis of art is generally thought that this should be expressed. Helios in a chariot drawn by four horses left in the picture carriage is seen in the middle. Estimates hover Luna and Cupid. Go down the left flees the night, accompanied by the allegorical figures of vice, while on the right the virtues, several naked female figures, up diving into bright light. In the cloud-filled background of the zodiac is visible ". (General Kunstchronik, 05.03.1883). The ceiling painting for the Art History Hofmuseum would be taken in the immediate future in attack. After the death of Hans Makart (3 October 1884) received Hans Canon (1829-1885) the order to execute the ceiling look after his own design but he died on the job. Finally Mihály Munkácsy created (1844-1900) the huge painting, and finished it in 1891.
