Portrait of Michael Comans. Calligrapher, engraver, painter and teacher, with his third wife Elisabeth van der Mersche in his studio. The painter looks at the viewer and standing with his back to the painting on an easel. In the left palette and brushes, a sheet of paper with an inscription in the right hand. His wife left sitting by the window with a book on her lap. For her is a dog on the floor. Right on the ground an album of pictures and drawings and several individual country maps and books. Against the back wall hang paintings. Above the window hangs a cage. Rear left a cabinet which books and a globe stand and a picture with the Amsterdam City Hall.
