This painting depicts the moment after the Resurrection when Jesus is recognized by two disciples as "he took bread, blessed and broke it, and handed it to them." It may have been painted in Seville, where Velázquez first trained, or in Madrid, where he moved in 1623. The realism of the figures, the strong dramatic light, and the attention to still life details recall the work of Caravaggio, which Velázquez would have known in Seville through copies.

The over 390 years old piece of art was painted by the painter Velázquez. The original measures the size - 48 1/2 x 52 1/4 in (123,2 x 132,7 cm) and was painted on the medium oil on canvas. It belongs to the digital art collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. With courtesy of - The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Bequest of Benjamin Altman, 1913 (public domain). Moreover, the work of art has the following creditline: Bequest of Benjamin Altman, 1913. The alignment is in square format and has a ratio of 1 : 1, meaning that the length is equal to the width.

Select your preferred item material

We offer a range of various materials and sizes for every product. We allow you to pick your favorite size and material among the following product individualization options:

  • Poster print on canvas material: Our poster is a UV printed canvas with a granular surface texture. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin between 2-6cm around the painting in order to facilitate the framing with a custom frame.
  • Acrylic glass print: A glossy print on acrylic glass, often referenced as a print on plexiglass, changes the artwork into beautiful décor and offers a distinct alternative option to aluminium and canvas fine art replicas. The acrylic glass protects your custom art print against sunlight and heat for many years.
  • Canvas: A UV printed canvas material mounted on a wooden frame. In addition to that, a canvas generates a homelike and warm ambience. How can I hang a canvas on my wall? Canvas prints are relatively low in weight. That means, it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. A canvas print is suited for any type of wall.
  • Aluminium dibond print: Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an outstanding effect of depth. The Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is the excellent start to the sophisticated world of art prints made on aluminum. The white & bright sections of the work of art shimmer with a silky gloss but without glow. The colors are vivid and luminous in the highest definition, the fine details appear clear and crisp. The direct UV print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is a truly stylish way to showcase art prints, as it puts the viewer’s attention on the artwork.
