Original artwork description from The Cleveland Museum of Art (© - by The Cleveland Museum of Art - www.clevelandart.org)

With its beautifully rendered trees, grassy slopes, and water bathed in late afternoon sunlight, this painting clearly suggests Nanteuil's love of nature. In 1837 he wrote to a friend: "I often spend several hours . . . looking at beautiful plants with large leaves, cut out like sumptuous lace, tall grasses in ponds, their color silky and the beautiful reflections they make in the water, the little flowers with thousands of colours the ground is embroidered with, all provide me with a source of enjoyment." Although the forest Nanteuil described seems very real, his painting includes a satyr. Seated on a stone near a stream, the half human, half goat mythological figure seems lost in the music he plays upon his pipes. Nanteuil is most famous for his lithographs and etchings; paintings by the artist are rather rare.

Materials you can choose

In the product dropdown menu you can pick a material and a size of your choice. Pick your favorite size and material between the following options:

  • Aluminium print (aluminium dibond): This is a metal print manufactured on aluminium dibond material with a true depth. For our Aluminium Dibond print, we print your favorite work of art right on the aluminium surface. The bright and white sections of the original artpiece shine with a silk gloss, however without glow.
  • Canvas: A printed canvas stretched on a wood stretcher frame. It has the distinctive impression of three dimensionality. Additionally, a printed canvas makes a nice and positive atmosphere. Hanging your canvas print: Canvas Prints have the advantage of being relatively low in weight, which implies that it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without the help of extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for any type of wall.
  • Printed poster on canvas material: The Artprinta poster print is a UV printed canvas paper with a slightly roughened structure on the surface. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm round about the print motif in order to facilitate the framing with a custom frame.
  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating on top): A glossy print on acrylic glass, which is sometimes named as a print on plexiglass, changes your favorite original into great wall decoration. What is more, the acrylic glass fine art print offers a viable alternative to canvas or dibond fine art replicas. Your own version of the artwork will be printed with the help of modern UV printing machines. This creates the impression of vivid and impressive color tones. Our acrylic glass protects your selected art print against light and heat for many years.
