Original artwork description as provided by the museum's website (© Copyright - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art)

This exquisite picture was painted for Cardinal Benedetto Giustiniani (1554–1621) when he was papal legate to Bologna. It is a paradigm of Ludovico’s mature style: the pose of the Madonna evokes Michelangelo’s sibyls in the Sistine Chapel, while the emphasis on elegance echoes the work of Parmigianino. Ludovico thus pays homage to the great figures of the preceding century as the basis of his own Grand Manner. The stalks of wheat held by the Christ Child are emblems of the Eucharist. The saints are: Bernard, Peter, Andrew, Paul, Catherine of Alexandria, and an unidentified virgin saint.

In 1607 Ludovico Carracci created the artpiece with the title Madonna and Child with Saints. The original version has the following size: 11 3/4 x 9 7/8 in (29,8 x 25,1 cm) and was made with the medium oil on copper. Moveover, this artwork is in the the The Metropolitan Museum of Art's art collection. Selectable materials

The product dropdown menu provides you with the opportunity to pick your favorite material and size. In order match your personal requirements perfectly, you can choose among the following product customization options:

  • Aluminium dibond (metal print): This is a metal print made on aluminium dibond with a true effect of depth - for a modern look and a non-reflective surface structure. A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is the excellent start to the sophisticated world of art reproductions made with aluminum. The bright and white sections of the original artwork shimmer with a silk gloss, however without glare.
  • Canvas: A printed canvas, which should not be confused with an artwork painted on a canvas, is a digital copy applied directly on canvas material. A canvas print has the advantage of being relatively low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang up your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. That is why, canvas prints are suitable for any type of wall.
  • The acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): An acrylic glass print, which is sometimes denoted as a UV print on plexiglass, will change your favorite original into wall décor. Your work of art will be printed with modern UV print machines. It makes deep, rich colors. With an acrylic glass fine art print contrasts plus minor color details will be more recognizeable because of the subtle gradation.
  • The poster print (canvas material): Our poster print is a printed canvas paper with a slightly rough surface finish, which resembles the original masterpiece. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm round about the painting, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.
