På en rikt utsmyckad tron med Hedvig Eleonoras namnchiffer sitter den 24-åriga änkedrottningen i helfigur med huvudet fas vänster. Hon är iklädd en vit guldbroderad klänning och hermelinsfodrad purpurmantel. Med sin högra hand håller hon ett ovalt porträtt av sin femårige son Karl XI, med sin vänstra ett skulpterat och förgyllt statsroder med Karl XI:s monogram och inskriften ”Hedewig Eleonora regnavit XIV annis” (Hedvig Eleonora har lett regeringen i 14 år). Änkedrottningen är omgiven av en mängd allegoriska figurer. Närmast till höger står Fides (tron) med ett kors och iklädd vit klänning och blå mantel. Hon håller fram porträttet av Karl XI. Bakom henne synes Charitas (kärleken) i en gul klänning och med ett barn på armen samt skymta Spes (hoppet) med ett ankare, Clementia (mildheten) och Candor (uppriktigheten). På änkedrottningens vänstra sida står Justitia (rätten) i vit klänning och gulröd mantel samt Fortitudo (tapperheten) i svart rustning och hjälm samt blå mantel. De hjälpa änkedrottningen att styra rodret. Vidare skymta Magnanimitas (ädelmodet), Prudentia (försiktigheten) med en spegel i handen och Temperantia (måttligheten). (Dessa dygder representerande de fem högsta ämbetsmännen i förmyndarregeringen). På tronens översta trappsteg en elfenbensrelief med hänsyftning på freden, som blomstrat under förmyndarregeringen. Nedanför tronen står till vänster Magnificentia (härligheten) i guldbroderad röd dräkt med en rulle i vänster hand med påskriften ”Palatium Riginae Hewigis Eleonorae” och pekar med höger hand på konsterna: skulpturen i blågrå dräkt med en modell av Karl X Gustafs byst, arkitekturen i gulgrå dräkt med en planritning över Drottningholm, målarkonsten i randig vit klänning och blå mantel och med en skissbok i handen, samt putti, varav en hller fram en rulle byggnadsritningar över Strömsholm, Gripsholm, Vadstena och Ulriksdal. I bakgrunden ett guldbroderat draperi och längst till höger utblick mot en väggnisch med skulptur.
