General description by the museum (© - Belvedere - Belvedere)
From Koloman Moser's picturesque creating a series of portraits of his family has received. In addition to severe frontal and profile views he painted three-quarter portraits, like this one from his older sister Charlotte Moser (07.02.1869 Vienna 08.06.1955 Vienna). Moser's sensibility as a portrait is not only reflected in the introverted view Charlotte, but also in the choice of the ambience as well as detailing the subtle presentation to the delicate gold chain. The painting shows the person in middle age front of a window grille with pansies. This shows Moser's preference for the combination of organic shapes and geometric abstraction, the most often comes in his portraits and still lifes effectively expressed. At the same time he makes the decorative covering for the pansies with the reddish flower pattern on the cloth. This reconciliation is also reflected on the colored approach to the Backgrounds, he reflected in the dress of those portrayed. In the square image support is Moser oriented to the visual compositions of the Vienna Secession around Gustav Klimt (1862-1918). [Stefan Üner, 2016]
