Have episcopal costume, Nicolas blesses with his right hand and holding the Gospel in his other hand, veiled. The saint is depicted bust right, slightly sloping shoulders. The look is firm, but without any harshness. Detached on an immaterial or bottom, it is surrounded by a kind of frame consisting of fine Corinthian columns supporting an ornate arch.

This representation is related to the Wallachian St. Nicolas (1512) of the monastery of Curtea de Arges (Wallachia), now the Museum of Bucharest Antim. This suggests that the style of the icon was already formed in Byzantium where it was scattered in the provinces and in the islands after the fall of Constantinople.
