The version of the masterpiece was made with the size: framed: 116,84 x 149,86 x 13,97 cm (46 x 59 x 5 1/2 in) unframed: 95 x 127,5 cm (37 3/8 x 50 3/16 in). Oil on canvas was used by the European painter as the medium of the artwork. What is more, this artwork forms part of the digital collection of Yale University Art Gallery, which belongs to Yale University and is the oldest art museum of a university in the western hemisphere. Gustave Courbet was a painter, sculptor, communard, whose style was mainly Realism. The French artist was born in 1819 in Ornans, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France and deceased at the age of 58 in 1877 in La Tour-de-Peilz, Vaud, Switzerland.
