Artwork description by The Metropolitan Museum of Art (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)

The largest of Ryder’s marines, "Under a Cloud" reflects his appreciation of the sea, first developed during his boyhood in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Even after he moved to New York in 1870, Ryder continued his contact with the maritime world. The evocative qualities of Ryder’s nocturnal seascapes are well demonstrated here: a mysterious balance is struck between the large, dark cloud and the sailboat that glides across the water.

What kind of art print materials can I order?

We offer a range of various materials and sizes for every product. We allow you to pick your favorite size and material among the following product individualization options:

  • Print on acrylic glass: A glossy print on acrylic glass, often denoted as a UV print on plexiglass, transforms your favorite original into wonderful décor and forms a good alternative option to dibond or canvas prints. Our real glass coating protects your selected art print against sunlight and heat for decades.
  • The canvas print: The UV printed canvas material stretched on a wooden frame. It makes the typical look of three dimensionality. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy and straightforward to hang up your Canvas print without the use of additional wall-mounts. Hence, canvas prints are suitable for all types of walls.
  • Poster print (canvas material): Our poster print is a UV printed cotton canvas with a slightly roughened surface finish. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin between 2 - 6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Aluminium dibond print: Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with a true depth effect. A non-reflective surface structure creates a fashionable impression. A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is the excellent introduction to the sophisticated world of fine art replicas with alu.
