Represents the bedroom of Victor Hugo on the third floor of Hauteville House.

This painting was featured, with that of the chamber of Victor Hugo (MVHPP0208), in the lounge of the National Society of Fine Arts (Champs exposure of Mars) in 1896: "Jeanniot (P.-G.), S.715 . - Bed rest of V. Hugo, Hauteville House.
