What does the curator team of the The Metropolitan Museum of Art write about the 15th century artwork created by Juan de Flandes? (© Copyright - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)

According to legend, Jesus appeared to his mother following his resurrection. Trained in Bruges, Juan de Flandes immigrated to Spain to serve at the court of Queen Isabella of Castile. In this painting, he suppressed his own individual style and closely copied a work by Rogier van der Weyden that had been owned by Isabella’s father, King Juan II. The spiritual power and artistic status of Rogier’s original prompted Isabella to order an exact copy. The queen bequeathed her version to her burial site, the Capilla Real in Granada, where two further companion panels remain to this day.

Choose your material

The product dropdown menu provides you with the chance to pick the size and material of your choice. You can pick your preferred size and material between the following alternatives:

  • Printed acrylic glass (with real glass coating): An print on acrylic glass, often labelled as a print on plexiglass, changes an artwork into stunning décor. The work of art is custom-made with modern UV print technology. With an acrylic glass fine art print contrasts and smaller painting details will be more visible due to the fine tonal gradation in the print. Our real glass coating protects your selected fine art print against light and heat for many years.
  • Aluminium dibond print: This is a metal print manufactured on aluminium dibond material with a true depth. The colors are luminous in the highest definition, the fine details appear crisp.
  • The poster print on canvas material: The poster print is a UV printed flat cotton canvas with a slightly rough surface texture, that resembles the original artwork. Please note, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of something between 2-6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • The canvas print: A canvas print, not to be confused with a canvas painting, is an image printed on a UV direct printing machine. Additionally, a canvas generates a lively and enjoyable impression. A canvas print of this artpiece will allow you to transform your own art print into a large size work of art like you would see in a gallery. A canvas print has the advantage of being low in weight, which means that it is quite simple to hang your Canvas print without the help of additional wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for any type of wall.

Legal note: We do all that we can to describe our art products as accurately as possible and to showcase them visually. Still, the colors of the printed materials and the printing may vary marginally from the representation on your monitor.
