The Archangel Gabriel announces to Mary the coming birth of his son. The sculpted Virgin is seated, feet on a stool, hands open in a listening gesture, and his head bowed in acceptance. She holds in her left hand a volumen. Before her, Gabriel, a thin stick in the left hand, blessed Mary of the right. Between them on a table, an open book where you can read from the prophecy of Isaiah (7:14): "... bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel" . On the upper edge of the icon in a semicircle supported by small clouds, God the Father blessed Mary of the right hand on which he sends the Holy Spirit, symbolized by a dove. He holds a globe decorated with precious stones and surmounted by a cross. The architectural background is Italianate, with columns, a bow, decorated windows and a sumptuous curtain. On the left border of the icon, St. Gregory the Theologian, represented three quarters, looks at the scene of the Annunciation.

Virgin carved dates from the sixteenth century and was inserrée in a later icon in the nineteenth century. The reintegration of an ancient icon fragment in a more recent work was relatively common in Russia.
