This view is the first realistic representation of high mountain in the Austrian painting. Thomas Ender has made the climb to Pasterze in July 1832 Archduke Johann. His task was to document the form and appearance of the glacier field. The view is out about the so-called today Franz Joseph's height toward Glocknermassiv, the Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria rises (3798 m) from its center.
