Jean-Pierre Dantan (1800-1869), sculptor, modeling bust Perignon in 1848. Portrait. Dantan, half-length, hand tool, Ends facial bust A.J. Perignon (Cars1846), placed on a scellette.

This was during a bet that Dantan (cars1846) Perignon and decided to portray each other's memory. Pérignon probably used a mirror because the hair in the painting is reversed from the sculpture. J.P. Dantan led parllèllement career classical sculptor and cartoonist. Considered the creator of the sculpted caricatures, Daumier before, in his "secret museum", it was laughter of his illustrious contemporaries: Victor Hugo, Balzac, Paganini ...
