The subject of this portrait is the nephew of Gericault’s friend the painter Pierre-Joseph Dedreux-Dorcy. This canvas is one of a small group of drawings and paintings (in various collections) that depict the eight- or nine-year-old Alfred and his younger sister, Elisabeth, with remarkable self-possession and grace for their age. Alfred became a painter and, like Gericault, was enamored of horses. Eugène Delacroix, who had studied with Gericault, later owned this painting.

Choose your material option
The product dropdown menu provides you with the opportunity to pick the material and sizeaccording to your preferences. The following options are available for individualization:
- The canvas print: The canvas print, which should not be mistaken with an artwork painted on a canvas, is a digital copy printed from an industrial printing machine. A canvas creates a familiar and positive feeling. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight. This means, it is easy to hang your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. Hence, a canvas print is suited for all types of walls.
- Aluminium dibond print: An Aluminium Dibond print is a print material with an outstanding depth effect - for a modern impression and a non-reflective surface. The bright components of the original artpiece shimmer with a silk gloss, however without any glare. The colors are bright and vivid in the highest definition, fine details are crisp and clear.
- Printed poster (canvas material): The poster print is a printed flat canvas paper with a nice surface finish. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin of something between 2 - 6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing.
- The acrylic glass print: A glossy acrylic glass print, often denoted as a UV print on plexiglass, will change your selected artwork into décor. Your own copy of the artwork is being made with the help of modern UV direct printing machines.
