In the center of the composition, Saint George, riding a white horse is now slay the dragon. The crown of glorification of martyrs is placed on his head by an angel who comes to the saint on a blue sky dotted with white highlights in faces. From its launch, Georges hurts the head of the winged dragon out of a body of water. The haloed princess standing on top of some stairs at the entrance to a turn, holds the monster leaves. in the window we see the king and queen and the very top of the tower, an army of many soldiers. The core is surrounded by twenty episodes of Saint George's life.

The format of the icon, the number and originality of the scenes make this exceptional work in European collections. The choice of colors, but also the architecture of the tower and its murals, the very regular representation of the army, the soldiers that appear in the windows are characteristic icons of Novgorod, as well as drawing mountains and horses. So we can locate this icon in the Novgorod region in the sixteenth century.
