Illustration XXII poem "Guitar", the collection of Victor Hugo "The Rays and Shadows".

The book "The Rays and Shadows" is republished in the Publishing Hughes in 1886 and is published in six deliveries are met in the second volume of "poetic OEuvre Victor Hugo II". This painting can be dated to 1886, it serves as a model for the engraved plate by Fortune Méaulle and placed on the cover page of the first issue and collection, on page 1, publishing by volume. Rochegrosse conducted a second illustration for this collection - for the poem "Looking thrown into an attic" - whose original design is also kept in the museum collections. The troisème illustration - for the poem "meeting" - has it been entrusted to Emile Bayard.
