Gérôme painted this scene, which depicts the interior of the seventh-century mosque of ‘Amr in Cairo, after his visit to Egypt in 1868. The rows of worshipers, ranging from the dignitary and his attendants to the loincloth-clad Muslim holy man, face Mecca during one of the five daily prayers. It is unlikely, however, that Gérôme witnessed a service at this particular mosque, which had fallen into disuse by 1868. Rather, the image is probably a composite of sketches and photographs of various sites. Gérôme traveled widely in the Middle East; more than two-thirds of his paintings are devoted to Orientalist subjects.

  • Printed acrylic glass with a glossy effect (with real glass coating): An print on acrylic glass, which is often described as a print on plexiglass, changes your favorite original work of art into beautiful wall decoration. Beyond that, the acrylic fine art print offers a distinct alternative to aluminium or canvas prints. The acrylic glass protects your selected fine art print against light and external influences for several decades.
  • Poster print (canvas material): A poster is a printed sheet of cotton canvas with a nice surface finish. Please bear in mind, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin 2-6cm round about the artwork, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Canvas print: The canvas direct print is a printed cotton canvas mounted on a wooden frame. What is more, printed canvas generates a lively and warm look. The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy and straightforward to hang your Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. That is why, a canvas print is suited for any type of wall.
  • Aluminium dibond print: An Aluminium Dibond print is a print material with an outstanding depth effect. The non-reflective surface creates a modern impression. For your Aluminium Dibond print, we print your selected artwork onto the aluminium surface. The bright and white parts of the artpiece shimmer with a silk gloss, however without any glow. Colors are bright and vivid in the highest definition, details of the print are crisp and clear, and you can literally feel a matte appearance of the surface.
