  • Printed acrylic glass: A glossy acrylic glass print, which is often referenced as a an art print on plexiglass, changes your favorite artwork into brilliant home décor and makes a great alternative to canvas or aluminium dibond prints. The great benefit of an acrylic glass fine art copy is that contrasts and smaller color details will be more recognizeable because of the delicate tonal gradation of the print.
  • Aluminium dibond print (metal): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with an outstanding depth. Its non-reflective surface structure make a contemporary impression. A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is the perfect introduction to the sophisticated world of art prints produced with alu. The colors are bright and vivid in the highest definition, the fine details of the print appear very clear, and there’s a matte look that you can literally feel.
  • The poster print (canvas material): The poster print is a printed sheet of canvas with a slightly rough texture on the surface, that resembles the original artwork. Please keep in mind, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin of around 2-6cm round about the artwork to facilitate the framing.
  • Canvas print: A canvas print, not to be mistaken with a painting on a canvas, is an image printed directly on canvas. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight. That means, it is easy and straightforward to hang up your Canvas print without any wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for any kind of wall.

Disclaimer: We do the best we can to describe the products with as many details as we can and to exhibit them visually in our shop. Still, the pigments of the print products and the imprint might diverge slightly from the image on your device's screen. Depending on the settings of your screen and the nature of the surface, not all color pigments are printed as realistically as the digital version. In view of the fact that our art prints are printed and processed by hand, there might also be slight discrepancies in the motif's exact position and the size.

oil on canvas

Gainsborough's landscapes are highly personal statements that evolved from ideas and images he developed in his studio, either directly on canvas or in scale models. In this work he focused on the physical exertions of fishermen as they confront strong winds and pounding surf. Even the massive cliff on the far side of the cove, its thrusting diagonal posed against the wind, seems to echo the efforts of the men struggling to launch their boat into the waves.

Gainsborough owned works by Dutch marine painters, and their influence is evident here. His own free and suggestive painting technique, however, gives the scene a unique degree of freshness and spontaneity. He applied his paint in thin, translucent layers that are accented by deft touches of impasto, particularly in the fishermen's clothing and on the white foam of the waves. A restrained palette of browns and creams suggests the shore and rocks; gray-greens, gray-blues, and white highlights describe the sun-filled expanse of the sea, while the sky is colored with delicate hints of purple, blue, and pink.
