Venus, the goddess of love, is unsuccessful in dissuading her mortal lover Adonis from hunting the boar that would eventually kill him. The artist nestles this story in the foreground of an expansive view with Germanic architecture, rather than a classical setting. Woodlands were relatively new subjects in European painting and this work points toward the full-blown forested landscapes of the 1600s.

This more than 440 year-old artwork was created by the painter Gillis van Coninxloo in 1580. The artpiece was painted with the size: Framed: 48,3 x 64,5 x 7 cm (19 x 25 3/8 x 2 3/4 in); Unframed: 37,8 x 53,6 cm (14 7/8 x 21 1/8 in). Available product material options

The product dropdown menu gives you the opportunity to pick a material and a sizeaccording to your individual preferences. We allow yout to choose among the following variants:

  • Poster (canvas material): The poster print is a printed flat cotton canvas paper with a slight surface structure. Please note, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin between 2-6cm round about the painting, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): An print on acrylic glass, which is sometimes referenced as a an art print on plexiglass, will change your favorite artwork into beautiful home decoration. The major advantage of a plexiglass fine art copy is that contrasts as well as artwork details become exposed because of the subtle gradation in the print. The real glass coating protects your chosen art replica against light and heat for many decades.
  • The canvas print: The UV printed canvas applied on a wood frame. A canvas creates a special look of three-dimensionality. The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, which implies that it is easy and straightforward to hang up the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for all kinds of walls.
  • Aluminium print (aluminium dibond): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with an impressive effect of depth - for a modern impression and non-reflective surface. A direct Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is your excellent start to the sophisticated world of art reproductions manufactured with alu. The bright and white parts of the original artpiece shine with a silk gloss, however without glow.

Important note: We try all that we can in order to depict our products as accurately as possible and to exhibit them visually. However, the pigments of the printed materials, as well as the printing may differ marginally from the presentation on the monitor. Depending on the screen settings and the condition of the surface, not all colors are printed 100% realistically. Since all our fine art prints are processed and printed by hand, there might also be minor variations in the size and exact position of the motif.
