This 19th century masterpiece The painter Sigmund LAllemand was painted by the realist artist Christian Griepenkerl in 1889. The original was painted with the size: 71 x 58 cm - frame: 86,5 × 72 × 5,5 cm and was painted with the techinque of oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower left: Griepenkerl / 1889 was the masterpiece's inscription. Moveover, this piece of art belongs to the art collection of Belvedere. With courtesy of © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 3039 (licensed - public domain). The creditline of the artwork is the following: transfer from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna in 1929. What is more, the alignment is portrait and has a side ratio of 3 : 4, meaning that the length is 25% shorter than the width. The painter, university teacher Christian Griepenkerl was a European artist, whose art style can be classified as Realism. The Realist painter was born in 1839 in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany and deceased at the age of 77 in 1916 in Vienna, Vienna state, Austria.
