Johann Peter Krafft sat in this painting with Tassos work "La Gerusalemme Liberata" apart. The dying Chlorinde lies almost motionless on the ground while Tancred supports her head and baptizing. Parts of their arms are spread around them. Typical of Krafft is the realistic and detailed reproduction of these items, such as the decoration of the helmet. The composition of this early work is strictly kept. The artist focuses on the representation of the two figures in the center. The arrangement of the two swords Chlorinde, and the two pieces of armor, is symmetrical. The landscape in which the protagonists are embedded, looks tidy. [Catherine Lovecký 6/2010]
