Allegory of Autumn

In 1859, the estate Jas de Bouffan is purchased by parents of Paul Cézanne. This makes it a decoration on the theme of the four seasons for the walls of the living room. The execution of this design helped convince Louis-Auguste Cézanne to allow his son to Paris to study art, which was done in 1861. The Jas de Bouffan was sold in September 1899, following the death of the mother of the painter. Cezanne is then in close contact with Ambroise Vollard. Later, the decor is detached from the walls of the property and is found in the Vollard estate in 1950.
