This is a view of the Grand Canal of Venice, painted by the artist from the Rialto bridge looking north. On the left, in the foreground, the Erberia and vegetable market and the vast building of Fabbriche Nuove di Rialto built in 1555 by Sansovino, behind which you can see the bell tower of the church of San Cassiano, then, at the turn of the canal, or the Pescheria fish market and the palace Pesaro. On the right are the Dolfin palace and the Ca 'da Mosto dominated by the steeple of the church of the Holy Apostles and, further, the two palaces and Michiel Grimani palace.

This painting, autograph work by Canaletto, is a replica, with variations, prior to 1730, a table showing the same view, in the collections of the Queen of England, Windsor Castle.
