The painter Etienne Jeaurat (1699-1789). Portrait. Foreground: model shown half-length, three-quarter left, front look. Dressed in a velvet coat and cap. He holds in his right hand and a brush in his left hand a palette and other brushes.

This portrait was sold with a certificate dated from 1839, indicating that he was in the house of Jeaurat Vermenton and represented the artist himself. It is possible that this is the table that is found to sales: François (07/11/1860) and Julien Courtois (03.28.1876) under the name of Greuze, "sketch the portrait of the Louvre." See J. Martin, "catalog raisonné of the work painted and drawn Greuze" (nº1173), Paris. Hands and the pallet, not listed on the original portrait, are additions of another hand than the portrait.
