Oil on panel was used by the artist as the medium of the piece of art. The masterpiece has the following inscription: signed and dated: HEERSCHOP. / 1668. Today, this artwork is part of the Mauritshuis's collection, which the Mauritshuis is home to the best artworks of Dutch painting of the seventeenth century.
