Artwork information from Art Institute Chicago (© Copyright - by Art Institute Chicago - Art Institute Chicago)
Ercole de’ Roberti worked in Bologna and, from 1486, in Ferrara, where he was associated with the brilliant court of the ruling Este family. Whereas his earlier works possess an almost frenzied emotional intensity, this late Virgin and Child is calmer, expressing a gentler melancholy. Roberti’s mannerisms are nevertheless evident in the exaggerated, slender fingers of the Virgin, which seem to barely hold the Christ Child, even as they press into his flesh.

Available materials
We offer a range of various materials and sizes for every product. You can choose your your favorite size and material among the following options:
- Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): The acrylic glass print, which is sometimes labelled as a print on plexiglass, will transform your favorite original work of art into magnificient décor and offers a distinct alternative to canvas or aluminium dibond art prints. Your favorite work of art is being custom-made with the help of state-of-the-art UV direct print technology. The great advantage of an acrylic glass art print is that contrasts plus smaller artwork details will be exposed with the help of the granular gradation. The real glass coating protects your chosen art print against light and external influences for many years to come.
- Canvas: The printed canvas, which should not be mistaken with a real canvas painting, is a digital copy applied directly on cotton canvas fabric. The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight. This means, it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without the support of any wall-mounts. That is why, canvas prints are suited for all kinds of walls.
- Poster print (canvas material): Our poster is a printed canvas with a slight finish on the surface. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm round about the artwork to facilitate the framing with a custom frame.
- Aluminium dibond print: Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an impressive depth. For your Direct Aluminium Dibond print, we print the work of art onto the aluminium composite white-primed surface.
