Cemetery of the Innocents, current 1st district. Urban landscape. Genre scene. From left to right: the arcades of the mass grave north side and houses on the street with Irons (Berger current street), the préchoir, the apse of the Church of the Holy Innocents, the tower Notre-Dame-des-Bois, the arcades mass grave south side and the houses of the street of the ironwork. At bottom right, the bell tower of the church of Saint-Jacques de la Boucherie.

The existence of the Innocents cemetery dates back at least to the Middle Ages (the discovery of Merovingian sarcophagi attests). It had the shape of a parallelogram including the longest length between the streets Irons (current Berger Street) and the ironwork and the short sides between Saint-Denis and Lingerie (now Rue Pierre Lescot). In 1571, the cross Gastine was transferred to the cemetery; it is not shown here (regardless of dating). The cemetery and the church were destroyed in 1786.
