Additional information on the original artwork by the museum (© Copyright - by The Cleveland Museum of Art - The Cleveland Museum of Art)

This bust-length portrait of the prominent American artist, Benjamin West, was allegedly painted by Thomas Lawrence. Although its attribution remains uncertain, the portrait's style and execution recalls other portraits of West by Lawrence, including the full-length painting now in the National Gallery, London. This smaller version may have been created when West was at an advanced age, and no longer able to stand for extended periods of time. However, as an exact, yet more freely painted likeness of the London portrait, this version also may be a copy made by Lawrence or one of his pupils after the full-length version.

  • Metal print (aluminium dibond): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an outstanding depth effect, which makes a modern look by having a surface structure, which is non-reflective. The bright parts of the artwork shine with a silky gloss but without the glow. The colors are luminous and bright, the details of the print appear clear and crisp. • Canvas print: A printed canvas, which shall not be mistaken with a real canvas painting, is an image printed on an industrial printer. The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy to hang up your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. That is why, canvas prints are suited for all kinds of walls.
  • Print on acrylic glass: An acrylic glass print, which is often denoted as a print on plexiglass, will change the artwork into beautiful décor. In addition, the acrylic glass print offers a viable alternative to aluminium and canvas prints. The work of art is custom-made with the help of modern UV direct print machines. The major upside of a plexiglass fine art print is that contrasts plus small color details will be more identifiable because of the fine gradation of the picture. Our real glass coating protects your selected fine art print against light and heat for several decades.
  • The poster print (canvas material): Our poster is a printed cotton canvas with a granular surface finish. Please bear in mind, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin between 2-6cm around the work of art in order to facilitate the framing with a custom frame.
