John Linnell presents a vision of the British landscape rich in spiritual and poetic associations. He draws on the biblical story of Noah's ark in which God orders Noah to build a ship to harbor his family and animals from the great flood. The English poet John Milton (1608–1674) also addressed the story in his epic poem Paradise Lost (1667), a passage from which Linnell included alongside his painting at the Royal Academy exhibition in 1848. The context for Linnell's picture may represent the debate at that time between theologians and scientists over the accuracy of biblical sources. Alternatively, the awe-inspiring theme, represented most clearly in Linnell's apocalyptic swirl of sky, was of longstanding interest to romantic painters and writers.

  • The canvas print: A canvas direct print is a printed canvas mounted on a wood frame. It makes a unique look of three dimensionality. Canvas Prints have the great advantage of being relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy to hang the Canvas print without the use of any wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for all kinds of walls.
  • Aluminium dibond print: These are metal prints on aluminium dibond material with a true depth - for a modern look and a non-reflective surface. The Aluminium Dibond Print is the ideal start to the sophisticated world of art prints produced on aluminum. The bright and white sections of the original work of art shimmer with a silky gloss, however without the glow. The direct print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is an extremely modern way to display fine art reproductions, because it puts the viewer’s focus on the image.
  • Poster print (canvas material): Our poster print is a printed flat canvas with a granular surface finish. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm around the print in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Print on acrylic glass (with real glass coating): The acrylic glass print, which is often described as a print on plexiglass, changes your favorite original into wall decoration. The artwork will be made with state-of-the-art UV printing technology. The major advantage of a plexiglass fine art print is that contrasts and granular image details will be exposed with the help of the precise tonal gradation. Important information: We do our best to describe the art products as accurate as it is possible and to demonstrate them visually. Nevertheless, the colors of the print materials and the printing can diverge slightly from the presentation on the device's monitor. Depending on the settings of your screen and the quality of the surface, not all colors are printed as realistically as the digital version on this website. Because the fine art prints are printed and processed manually, there may also be slight discrepancies in the size and exact position of the motif.
