Area in the Rheinpfalz was painted by Anton Hlávacek. The 140 year-old piece of art had the following size 144 x 222 cm - frame: 157 x 235 x 4 cm and was manufactured with the techinque of oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower right: Hlavacek 73 is the artpiece's original inscription. Nowadays, this artpiece belongs to the collection of Belvedere in Vienna, Austria. In addition, the work of art has the following creditline: transfer from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna in 1921. Anton Hlávacek was a painter, whose style was mainly Realism. The artist was born in the year 1842 in Vienna and died at the age of 84 in 1926.

A state scholarship enabled Hlavacek 1864 a study trip to the Rhine. For two years he lived in Worms. During this period emerged (now z. T. lost) large landscape paintings. After his return to Vienna in 1869 Hlavacek painted Alpine motifs often, its Gebirgsseebilder were particularly appreciated by the audience. His major work - the colossal panorama of Vienna and its surroundings from Nussberg from - is now in the Vienna Museum. next to this great representation of the Rhine Valley and a similar sized country (The Habsburg, Inv 13) Belvedere has smaller studies that clearly show the influence of his teacher Albert Zimmermann.
