Description by the museum's website (© - by Indianapolis Museum of Art - Indianapolis Museum of Art)

Gallery label: This painting was created in 1656 for the high altar of the Jesuit church of St. Francis Xavier in Amsterdam. Though tolerated, Catholicism was officially banned in Holland and the new church was hidden behind the façade of a typical canal house. Erasmus Quellinus, a Flemish artist, was in Amsterdam in 1656 for the purpose of decorating two ceilings in the Town Hall. He was thus engaged in one of the most important civic commissions of the day even as he completed the main altarpiece of a clandestine Catholic church.

Select the material you would like to hang up on your walls

We offer a range of different materials and sizes for every product. You can choose your your favorite size and material among the following options:

  • Acrylic glass print: An print on acrylic glass, often labelled as a print on plexiglass, will change the original work of art into magnificient décor and is a great alternative to canvas and dibond prints. The great upside of an acrylic glass art print is that contrasts and minor image details become visible thanks to the delicate tonal gradation of the picture. The acrylic glass protects your custom fine art print against light and heat for many years.
  • Metal (aluminium dibond print): An Aluminium Dibond print is a print material with an outstanding depth effect. A non-reflective surface structure creates a modern look. The Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is the best start to art prints on aluminum. For the Direct Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your favorite work of art on the surface of the aluminum composite.
  • Poster print on canvas material: Our poster print is a printed cotton canvas paper with a granular surface finish. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm around the print to facilitate the framing.
  • Canvas: The canvas print, which shall not be confused with a painting on a canvas, is a digital image applied on a canvas. It generates a particular effect of three dimensionality. The canvas makes a attractive and pleasant feeling. A canvas print of your favorite masterpiece will allow you to transform your fine art print into a large size work of art like you would see in a gallery. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which means that it is quite simple to hang up your Canvas print without the help of extra wall-mounts. Hence, a canvas print is suitable for any kind of wall.
