In August 1910 MacCameron noted in his journal that he had visited "Rodin, the greatest of sculptors—he is a charming person—a splendid big head, with light grey warm creamy hair and beard. . . . I am [interested] in the idea of painting a good portrait of [him]." The likeness, completed by late September, shows the sculptor holding a model of his iconic work The Thinker. Rodin and MacCameron discussed sending the portrait to The Met, but it traveled instead to New York's Academy of Design and Pittsburgh's Carnegie Institute. Collector and financier J. Pierpont Morgan aquired it and, in 1912, he gave it to The Met, where it hung in a new gallery dedicated to Rodin.

Pick your preferred product material

In the dropdown selection right next to the product offering you can choose the size and material of your choice. You can choose among the following product customization options:

  • Aluminium dibond print: Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with an impressive effect of depth, creating a fashionable impression with a surface structure, which is not reflective. For the Direct Aluminium Dibond print, we print your favorite work of art on the surface of the aluminum material. The colors of the print are luminous and vivid in the highest definition, the details appear clear and crisp, and there’s a matte look you can literally feel.
  • The poster print (canvas material): The poster print is a UV printed sheet of canvas with a slightly roughened surface texture. It is optimally suited for placing your art print with the help of a special frame. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin 2-6cm round about the artwork, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): The acrylic glass print, which is often denoted as a print on plexiglass, will turn the artwork into marvellous wall décor. Beyond that, it makes a good alternative to canvas or dibond fine art replicas. The artwork is made with the help of modern UV direct printing technology. It creates deep, vibrant print colors. Our acrylic glass protects your custom art print against light and heat for between 40-60 years.
  • Canvas print: The printed canvas, not to be mistaken with an artwork painted on a canvas, is a digital image applied onto canvas material. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight. This means, it is easy to hang up the Canvas print without any wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for all kinds of walls.
